The contents of each delivery vary week to week, depending on what is fresh and in season. To see past Box Contents please visit blog.organicslive.com. Generally each box will contain approximately 2/3rds vegetables, 1/3 fruit, with the exception of our fruit only boxes (which, as the name implies, are 100% fruit). We keep the contents of each delivery interesting, varied and usable, while ensuring you get the absolute best value possible. Every delivery can also be fully customized at no extra charge, so "more of this, less of that, add a couple of those..." is only ever a click away (more on that below).

Heck yes, you can! We offer full customization on every order at no additional cost. Before your delivery is prepared, we'll email you with a list of anticipated contents and with a few simple clicks, you can change the composition of your box to perfectly suit your needs or preferences for the week. We also recognize that there are some conditions that are unlikely to change - like allergies and food preferences - and for that reason, you can also set a list of 5 'exclusions' - items you never want to receive - and we'll ensure these foods never make it into your box.

Delivery days vary, depending on your where you live. Typically, we deliver Tuesday through Thursday, between 4pm and 9pm. In areas where we are delivering on multiple days, we offer you a choice of delivery day, based on availability (available delivery days are displayed during the signup process, before you complete your order). Everything we purchase for our weekly and bi-weekly subscription boxes (Small, Regular, Large, and Fruit Only) is certified organic, ensured through third party certification bodies in Canada and the US. This means that our farms have completed lengthy and thorough certification processes and participate in mandatory annual inspections to ensure they are continuing to operate according to the specifications of the relevant standards. If you ever have questions about a product you're receiving, we're happy to provide supplementary information on request. For more info on the Canadian program, click here, and for details on organic certification in the United States, click here.

The Organics Live purchasing mandate places a strong emphasis on sourcing from small and mid scale growers and producers, located as close to you as possible. Our program ensures that wherever possible, product is sourced regionally in order to support local economies. We seek, wherever possible, to reduce the footprint of all of our activities and to reduce the number of miles traveled, farm-to-fork.

Availability of local produce In parts of Canada and the United States is heavily seasonal. For this reason, we choose to support our local contents with imported product where necessary, with a greater presence of non-local items through the winter and spring. Except where extremely limited alternatives exist (kiwis, for example), we do not purchase food from outside of the Americas. Due to concerns about growing, handling, and shipping practices, we do not purchase any food from China.

When we do import product, its travel is offset through our participation in the CarbonFund. As this question is related directly to the conversation about local food versus organic, we'd like to offer some additional insight. It is important to understand that the transportation of food from producers to end consumers accounts for 4% of the total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions related to food production. GHG emissions associated with food are dominated by the production phase, contributing 83% of the average household’s footprint for food consumption. Transportation as a whole accounts only for 11% of life-cycle GHG emissions. For this reason, it is generally more important to consider how food is produced over where it is produced.

We acknowledge and respect the unique, ethical eating choices Organics Live eaters make.   Some of you choose to abstain from eating meat, dairy, and eggs for a multitude of reasons.  Some of you choose to eat meat, dairy, and eggs from farmers who raise animals in an ethical and sustainable manner.

We support both choices.

While we do not currently offer eggs, dairy or meat products, we are working to develop relationships with local, certified organic farmers, who work with animals in a conscious way, so that we can make these options available.

At the same time, we do our best to share the benefits of eating a plant based diet for eaters, animals, and the environment.
